Design A Visiting Card Using Photoshop

Business cards or visiting cards make people aware of your brand. While designing a visiting card, a person has to be creative to design a card which connects with the audience. To make you a better designer here is an easy tutorial to make you learn how to design a visiting card using Photoshop.

Step1: Create a new document

To begin with, the work, let’s just create a new document with the following settings done in the document box. The standard size of a visiting card is 3.5×2”. We will add an extra space 0.25” to make it convenient to cut the visiting card into the standard size after printing. Before closing the box set the resolution to 300 and change the colour mode to CMYK and take the background as transparent.

Step2: Set the margins and create a layer

After setting the standard measurements, it’s time to make margins to make sure the content doesn’t go outside that. For this, the margins should be set at 0.125”. Go to view and activate the ruler to make the margins. Drag the blue lines from every edge to create the working space. As you set the margins, press Ctrl+Shift+N to create a new layer which will appear as Layer2 in the layer panel.

Step3: Select the background colour

Now as we have a basic working space to design the visiting card, let’s add some colours to a blank background. For this go-to tool panel and pick the paint bucket tool to fill the colour. As you will click on the tool icon, a colour picker will appear on the screen. The choice is yours now to fill any colour to add life to the blank background.

Note: Make sure that Layer 2 is highlighted.

Step4: Set the footer

Now after the background colour, we will create the footer of the visiting card. For this create a new layer named Layer3 and go to the Rectangular Marquee tool in the tool panel and make a selection at the bottom of the visiting card just as shown in the image below. Now pick the paint bucket tool and fill the selection with your desired colour.Design A Visiting Card Using Photoshop

Step5: Insert the text and set the colour

After adding colour to the visiting, it’s time to add a text. For this go to text tool in the tool panel and type on the visiting card according to your own preferences. Now add colour to the text with the text colour fill option on the top panel.

Step 6: Insert the image

To place the image or logo, go to File menu and select the Place option from the list. As you will click on it, a Window will appear on the screen which will help you locate the image file. Press on the image from the designated file and insert it into the frame. You can resize the image by pressing Ctrl+T and place it accordingly with the help of move tool.Design A Visiting Card Using Photoshop

Step7: Tweak the design

As you get hold of the basics of making a visiting card, you can make changes to your preferences. You may add elements to enhance the design of the visiting card.

As you will learn and process the skills, it will make you more creative. The more you explore the dimensions of Photoshop software, the more you can learn from it.
