Photoshop gives some of the amazing tools like quick selection tool pen, magic wand tool, Marquee tool, etc. With these, one can play around with the images and edit in the desired manner! Marquee tool is a tool which helps the user to edit or add the effect in a particular area, selected through it.
USE OF “SELECTION”
Once the selection is made, the area selected can be resized or can undergo a transformation. To do so, opt edit followed by transform and lastly wrap. Once the wrap tool is chosen, the dimensions can be changed easily.
The image in left has an eye smaller than that of the one on the right. This is when the wrap tool comes into action with the help of which the size of the eyes was resized but, after using the wrap tool selection also gets distorted.
One can play around with the selected portion of the image. One can copy and paste it on another image or overlapped on the same image but at a different position. Copy-pasting can be done using ctrl+C/cmd+C and to paste it back into the original image/document, ctrl+V/cmd+V could be used.
FILL WITH COLOUR:
One enjoys the full freedom of filling it with any colour of choice after selecting a custom portion of the image. Press shift+F5 or edit and fill to change the foreground colour as per the requirement.
A border can be added to the selection by choosing edit and then stroke and also fill the stroke dialogue box as per the requirement. The above image has a width of 1 pixel and black as the colour. Inside location means nothing but the border lies inside the selected region and vice-versa.
RECTANGULAR AND ELLIPTICAL MARQUEE TOOL
There is no difference between both the marquee tools except for their shape. For easy understanding let’s choose one of them to say, elliptical marquee tool, which can be selected from left tool panel by pressing shift+M repeatedly until it appears after which the cursor turns into the plus sign(+).
Drag and drop the elliptical selection as shown in the image. To use move tool go-to tool panel or simply press V. To move the selection in the midway of selection press and hold the spacebar. Once the area has been inverted by pressing, ctrl+shift+l/cmd+shift+l, this will select the entire portion which was not selected earlier.
